ABOUT YOUR TEAM:

You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in Microsoft 365 tools and services to join Centrica’s Infrastructure Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in infrastructure automation, configuration management, and a strong focus on security. They will be proficient in managing Microsoft 365 tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Viva suite, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Dynamics 365.
Location: Home-based with occasional travel to Windsor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure infrastructure solutions using Microsoft 365 tools and services.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Microsoft 365-related issues.
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize Microsoft 365 infrastructure.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams using Teams, SharePoint Online, and Exchange Online.
  • Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Generate reports and analytics to track performance and identify areas for improvement.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Viva suite, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Dynamics 365
  • Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell
  • Deep understanding of networking, security, and database management in Microsoft 365 environments
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team-oriented mindset

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:

  • Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, and PowerShell DSC
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms: Azure and AWS
  • Expertise in Microsoft Defender and Kusto Query Language (KQL)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, focusing on Microsoft 365 tools and services
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or similar are highly desirable
