As a Senior Instructional Designer, you will design and develop learning content for employee development programs that support Premera’s purpose, values, and business initiatives. You will collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and modernize course content and e-learning training that is dynamic, interactive, and engaging. Your enthusiasm and technical expertise will directly contribute to making healthcare work better.
This is a virtual/telecommuter position, working from home.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and develop instructor-led and computer-based training material using adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies to support blended delivery of training, including creating interactive, engaging web-based training with Articulate Storyline software.
  • Design, develop, or select course content, such as participant workbooks, facilitator guides, PowerPoint decks, classroom activities, job aides, and evaluation tools for instructor-led courses.
  • Manage multiple projects including project timelines and deliverables; create project plan and monitor and control project progress.
  • Conduct instructional analysis: determine knowledge, skills, attitudes, competencies required, and gaps in learning; assess effectiveness and efficiency of instruction according to ease of instructional technology use and student learning, knowledge transfer, and satisfaction.
  • Write performance/behavioral objectives, work with clients to determine appropriate learning solutions based upon established learning objectives, analyze relevant learning situations to determine appropriate training solutions applying appropriate learning theories and design principles, and develop criterion-based assessments and performance measures.
  • Consult and collaborate with internal business partners to develop appropriate training.
  • Manage client interactions and expectations, facilitate meetings, and escalate issues to manager as needed.
  • Interview subject matter experts or conduct other research to develop instructional content.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Curriculum Development, Education, Organizational Development, or Instructional Design, and (5-10) years of experience designing instructor-led and web-based curriculum, conducting training needs analyses, and working with Articulate Storyline software. At a minimum, must possess education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree plus (5-10) additional years of relevant experience. (Required)
  • Advanced degree or certification in e-Learning technology, experience evaluating the effectiveness of e-Learning, and/or experience with Vyond, Audacity, Adobe Premier, Adobe Cloud Creative, and/or Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred.
  • Proficient in Articulate Storyline software.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles - analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation – for classroom and virtual environments.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products including software revisions, technical changes, and trends.
  • Strong consulting skills required to interview, understand, and document thorough sets of requirements associated with requested training activities.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills including conducting needs assessments and other research, documenting results, and providing recommendations.
  • Flexible and pro-active approach to work; ability to effectively execute training with all departments.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
National Salary Range:
$70,100.00 - $119,200.00
National Plus Salary Range:

$79,900.00 - $135,800.00

  • National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
