LOCATION/DIVISION SPECIFIC INFORMATION

We are a research, development, and production site in Bremen currently, with about 500 employees, whose “high-end” measurement and analysis instruments (mass spectrometers) are used in research and science worldwide. Our innovative products in the fields of Life Sciences MS and Inorganic MS, as well as Trace Elemental Analysis, are among the leading products globally in their respective markets. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Instrument Control Software Engineer to join our dynamic Research & Development team in Bremen.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Demonstrate first years of industrial experience in software development of sophisticated analytic instrumentation following the completion of a Doctoral degree in technical discipline showcasing your expertise and dedication in the field.
  • Or several years of industrial experience after completion of a master’s degree.
  • Or multiple years of industrial experience after completion of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Showcase experience in working on embedded software development for sophisticated software architectures.
  • Prior experience in the field of analytic instrumentation, especially in Mass Spectrometry, is highly desirable.

  • Possess exceptional proficiency in Python and/or C++, complemented by a robust background in embedded software development.

Responsibilities:

  • Conception and implementation of complex control flow of analytical instruments in a collaborative environment.
  • Develop and implement computationally efficient and precise algorithms for digital signal processing, while meeting demanding requirements and placing a strong emphasis on both efficiency and accuracy.
  • Your responsibilities will include designing and developing procedures for instrument calibration and performance evaluation, ensuring accuracy and reliability in the calibration process and assessing the instrument’s performance effectively.
  • Collaboratively prototype, implement, and test new and existing software features, prioritizing software quality and aiming for zero defects. Ensuring the reliability and robustness of the software through a strong emphasis on teamwork and inclusivity.
  • Collaborate closely with your software colleagues to promptly address and resolve software defects and issues.
  • Playing an important role in the product development process by creating and maintaining comprehensive and transparent documents.
  • Apply principles, rules, and strategies related to intellectual property when drafting invention disclosures, patents, publications, and presentations, ensuring the protection of innovative ideas and technologies.
  • Effectively communicate software development progress verbally and in writing to reporting and other software colleagues.
  • Serve as a representative of the company by positive and productive interactions with external customers and collaborators.
  • This position responsibilities split (90% hands-on and remaining administrative activities).
