Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting career move that will allow you to take ownership of high-end residential projects in UK and abroad to support the design direction of the Project Leader and assist in leading junior members of the design team. You will have a positive and professional attitude at all times towards clients, suppliers and the wider design team.
You will have a meticulous eye for design and detail, evident in your well put together portfolio and the ability to collate and understand the overall project scope, budget, programme and deliverables across all RIBA Stages (0-6) together with a thorough understanding of working to deadlines and delivering exceptional results. Awareness of preparing fee proposals an advantage but not essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare working brief/client requirements and concept designs with Design Directors (RIBA Stage 1/2)
- Commission external surveys where required (assist project manager if applicable)
- Presenting with confidence to both internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare and oversee spatial planning and schematic design schemes (RIBA Stage 2)
- Work with architect (executive or other) to understand roadmap to achieve necessary consents
- Prepare and oversee design development presentations and documentation (RIBA Stage 3)
- Prepare and oversee tender documentation packages (independently if required) including drawings,
details, schedules and specifications (RIBA Stage 4)
- Liaise and oversee wider design team including engineering services, specialist sub consultants and suppliers as required
- Liaise with clients to effectively communicate project brief, deliverables and expectations on a regular basis, both day-to-day and at formal work stages
- Assist in leading junior and mid-weight designers and interior architects through key RIBA Stages
- Liaise with suppliers and consultants to review and approve shop drawings (including sample sign off)
- Visit site for inspections at key intervals and demonstrate ability to problem solve as and when queries arise
- Liaise, by way of the main point of contact, with contractors on site to answer formal requests for information (RFI’s) as well as record and/ or sign-off design variations
- Report in a pro-active manner to the Project Leader on project progress, including raising potential client or project issues as and when they arise
- Assist design directors and contribute preparing fee proposals by estimating timescale and studio resourcing
