JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of the Vail Resorts Finance organization, Vail Resorts’ Retail team is committed to Building Leaders and Driving Value. The Inventory Accounting - Sr Assistant is a crucial resource providing accounting support for all aspects of Vail Resorts’ retail inventory including inventory at retail locations such as Epic Mountain Gear and our Partner Door locations. This individual will support the VRR Inventory Accounting Analyst and the Inventory Accounting Manager from an operational and monthly close management perspective. Monthly responsibilities include: journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, variance analysis, and additional ad hoc duties as requested. Daily responsibilities include: field communication, inventory adjustments, cost correction entries, and system research. This job requires the ability to meet deadlines while paying keen attention to detail. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic team player with a can-do attitude, strong work ethic, with the ability to periodically support field operations outside of business hours.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1 year accounting experience preferred
- High volume inventory experience a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications: intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt quickly to changing business needs, and communicate effectively through email
- Self-starter with a drive for excellence, able to build strong working relationships throughout the organization and a proven ability to be a leader in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials system, Merchandise Management System (MMS), Coupa, and OnBase experience (Preferred).
The expected Total Compensation for this role is $20.00 - $24.50. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
Responsibilities:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support VRR locations across North America by performing inventory adjustments and inventory related reporting on a daily and weekly basis
- Perform monthly close duties including: creating timely and accurate journal entries related to retail inventory and reconciling inventory balance sheet accounts
- Communicate with the field on counts and making sure they are received before monthly adjusting JEs are made
- Support the annual physical Inventory Process
- Attend and engage in team meetings
- Support Internal and External teams including: Retail Stores, Distribution Centers, AP, Audit, etc.
- Conduct administrative work related to annual physical inventory counts
- Active participation in driving results to meet individual, team, and department objectives
- Ad-hoc reporting as requested
