Description:
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
- Degree in a subject relevant to airline operations, ideally including a Human Factors or Human Performance module;
- 5 - 7 years of experience in aviation would be an advantage, preferably cargo ground handling related;
- Previous experience as a safety investigator is an advantage;
- Basic knowledge of the functions of the organization and of aviation in general;
- Understanding of safety management systems;
- Ability to perform data analysis and building various related reports in MS Office products;
- Ability to communicate during investigation and to present output at all levels, both inside and outside the organization;
- Organizational skills and the ability to work systematically;
- Capable of working in a team and unsupervised, following company procedures;
- Ability to handle confidential matters;
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English; any other language will be considered an advantage.
Responsibilities:
On behalf of the Vice President Aviation Safety, the (Senior) Investigator Ground Safety is responsible for managing the daily tasks of the Aviation Safety Department related to ground operations safety. With this, the position holder acts as the liaison between the Aviation Safety Department and Ground Operations and shall be responsible to:
- Oversee the tasks of the Aviation Safety Department related to GSRs (Ground Safety Report);
- Lead, support and guide the investigators assigned;
- Chair the Ground Operations Safety Action Group;
- Assist with the investigation of accidents;
- Liaise with the Nominated Persons Ground Operations and Ground Operations Management on safety matters;
- Support Ground Operations Management on the set-up and maintenance of Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs);
- Analyse all available safety data and information related to Ground Operations to ensure trends and statistics are identified;
- Support the Specialist Aviation Risk Management by producing safety-related information and periodic reports on the safety performance of flight operations;
- Maintain familiarity with all aspects of Cargolux activities and its personnel;
- Set-up training requirements and advise the line manager on individual training requirements for Investigators or Safety Officers assigned to them;
- Support their line manager to monitor safety concerns in the aviation industry and their possible impact on the operation;
- Support their line manager in ensuring that the Aviation Safety Department procedures, including the Management Safety Manual (MSM) are in line with national (once established the State Safety Program (SSP)), international regulatory (e.g. ICAO, EASA, EU), legal requirements and industry best practices;
- As delegated to them maintain liaison with manufacturers, customer flight safety departments, government regulatory bodies and other flight safety organizations worldwide.
