About the Role
As the Senior IT Application Specialist for our IT team, you’ll be the application specialist and software vendor manager in the organisation’s Technology team. You will facilitate the delivery of various technical software initiatives and lead the ongoing support of the product. You will be a trusted source or advice and innovation as you navigate complex regulatory and logistical challenges to support the vision of improving our customer and employee experiences. This role necessitates not just technical prowess but a continuous improvement mindset, ability to plan, scope and run projects. This role is focused on application support, vendor outcomes improvements, project execution and mentoring the team. This role is instrumental in project execution, guiding in the delivery process from our team of developers, and ensuring our software solutions hit the mark.

Responsibilities include

  • Technical Leadership:
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of developers/engineers.
  • Lead the design and implementation of complex software solutions.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the team.
  • Spearhead strategic system architecture, driving the integration roadmap for cutting-edge technologies and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Identifying, troubleshooting and resolving incidents as well as documenting findings, improvements, recommendations and plans.
  • Vendor Management:
  • Maintain software vendor relationships to ensure continuous and reliable access to support and services, ultimately enhancing system performance.
  • Review Vendor arrangements for the delivery of software solutions and support. Prepare improvement plans, monitor and track outcomes.
  • Project Management:
  • Collaborate with project managers , or run projects, to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Determine context of business needs and problems, gather information and confirm system
  • Ensure timely and successful completion of projects within budgetary and timeline constraints.
  • Team Development:
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with HR to identify training needs and organize skill development programs.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Stay current with technological advancements and assess their applicability to our projects.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on technical issues and challenges.
  • Implement QA testing frameworks and monitor adherence/effectiveness for all software deployments.
  • Design, develop and communicate technical documentation.

Essential Criteria

  • 5+ years of experience in software development
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, managing technical teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Service Management qualifications (ITIL)
