Description:

A new and interesting opportunity is available for a motivated person to join the IT Support Team at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff as a Senior IT Support Officer. This is a fixed term position until 31/03/2025 with a possible extension, depending on project timelines.
We are looking for two competent Senior IT Support Officers. This role will support the development and implementation of Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration ePMA application and support for Pharmacy users. The role is suitable for someone with a strong technical knowledge of hardware and applications, who will help the Pharmacy Department prepare various equipment for Cardiff And Vale UHB users.
You’ll be part of a team of skilled IT Support Officers, taking charge of providing a high-quality application and hardware support service to the health board.
The post holder will be expected to be an active member of the Service Desk Support Team responsible for investigating complex IT issues across the Health Board, providing an effective support function on the desktop infrastructure of the Health Board
The successful candidate will need to be able to learn new systems quickly and be able to adapt to new technologies as they are introduced by the service. Knowledge of Pharmacy applications will be a benefit
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This post is for a technically skilled Senior IT Support Officer who has enough knowledge and experience to help with the setup and maintenance of Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA).
The post holder will be in charge of the daily technical operation of the system and business continuity, solving complex problems and errors, and functionality issues. They will create Standard Operating Procedures and Technical Support documents, follow strict change control processes and report changes in system functionality to the Pharmacy Directorate Manager and the Clinical Board Users.
To join the department’s rota covering office hours, early mornings, evenings, weekend working, Bank Holiday rota and on-call duties. The emergency on-call duty requires frequent, urgent responses to requests for advice and application support. The successful candidate must be able to offer help or training to users and ensure the smooth running of ePMA pharmacy application. Have excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. They must be able to work under pressure and have the ability to work well in a team setting to maintain a high level of service. Previous experience in a professional services environment doing 1st and 2nd line IT support, especially applications, would be a benefit in this role.
