Description:

Our Retail Team are responsible for all aspects of William Hill’s in store technology, with a particular focus on integrating the online experience for our customers into our 1400+ retail shops in the UK. Your role is to keep our colleagues and customers connected, updating our existing platform and systems while ensuring our customers have cutting edge technology at their fingertips.
We’re adopting AWS at scale, and at the same time releasing high volume system upgrades into around 1400 shops across the UK. So, from the Cloud to tangible technology on the ground, we’re proud to say that we’re covering it all.
We wouldn’t be at the cutting-edge of online sports gambling without a talented technology team. There’s a lot going on #behindthebet.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Experience as a Java Developer, working in Scrum/Kanban framework, with broad knowledge of web software development and best engineering practices (SOLID), and experience in a multi-team environment with multiple dependencies.
  • Knowledge of AWS technologiesare advantageous.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Docker, REST API, Linux, Bash, Python, Puppet, New Relic, and Terraform.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and document solutions in collaboration with Developers, Testers, and Solution Architects.
  • Ensure the integrity of the software by effectively managing technical debt in collaboration with Site Reliability teams.
  • Support the transformation of guardrails into best practices and standards, ensuring adherence.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners on both technical and non-technical requirements.
  • Work closely with Delivery Managers to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
  • Engage in Pair Programming and/or review code, providing constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with QA to ensure alignment of tests with the solution and complement tests written by development.
  • Offer support for setting up CI & release pipelines for all delivered applications.
