This is an opportunity to lead a team of ambitious local journalists covering stories on all platforms.Greater Manchester is an amazing patch which covers lots of high profile stories. People are passionate about where they live and it’s an area rich with diverse communities.
We pride ourselves on finding and producing brilliant content with strong local journalism, that’s relevant to the lives of ordinary working people throughout the area. You will help to set the tone for that journalism, making sure they create impact across all our platforms including content sharing with BBC networks.
You’ll think digitally and understanding our diverse and harder to reach audiences.
We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, creative team leader with great news and people skills to join our management team. You’ll need to be hands-on and drive our news strategy across more than one platform. Most of all you’ll love connecting with audiences.

Responsibilities:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will lead and line-manage the multiplatform Local Story Team on a day-to-day basis.
  • Editorial oversight of the audio news bulletins and production of news content for radio.
  • Have some editorial oversight of the local digital index.
  • Collaborate with the North West story hub for planning, commissioning and the delivery of stories for digital, radio and TV.
  • Lead, support and develop reporters and newsreaders.
  • Sub and publish some online content.
  • You’ll shape big impact journalism and ensure staff think creatively about what we do and story treatments. You’ll also ensure our bulletins are of the highest order with the potential to read some yourself.
