Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Launch Integration & Operations Engineering Manager to lead our multi-disciplined Launch Integration Organization in El Segundo, CA.

As the Senior Launch Integration Manager, you are responsible for providing engineering integrators across the El Segundo site for both Commercial and Government satellite programs. These integrators provide support from proposal development, though design, assembly, integration, and test to delivery and launch at various spaceports across the United States and abroad. This manager also provides talent at our Kent, WA site.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 3+ years’ experience in engineering to include experience with Spacecraft or launch vehicle fabrication, integration, and operations.
  • 3+ years’ experience performing integration and testing on satellite systems.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading people in a technical environment as a team lead or manager.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time (approximately once a month).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 5+ years of experience in a space related engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in launch operation logistics at the factory or at a launch site.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Launch Integration Team, including team members assigned to programs.
  • Develops and sets operational goals, objectives, and related metrics to ensure alignment with Boeing’s vision/strategy, monitoring metrics to ensure performance to plan.
  • Develops and executes objectives for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Assigns authority and responsibilities to employees for program plan execution.
  • Reviews execution plans and makes appropriate adjustments while resolving issues.
  • Forecasts resource needs as well as obtains and manages personnel, facilities, services, equipment, and tools to meet project and daily operating requirements.
  • Maintain frequent contact with internal personnel and external representatives concerning operations, scheduling, or specific phases of projects or contracts.
  • Responsible for team with Launch Integrated Product Team (IPT) Subject Matter Experts for satellite process documentation related to launch related activities and ensure common engineering processes/practices.
  • Coaches, counsels, mentors, and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities.
  • Management of all estimating and resource planning of engineers.
  • Support the Production, Test & Launch (PT&L) Capability shared resource teams for completion of tasks and initiatives.
  • Supports Customer and Program meetings as needed.
  • Leads team that provides mission assurance inputs for Launch IPT related items.
  • Responsible for providing oversight support during pre-launch, launch countdown, launch, and post launch.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • As necessary, works at remote launch site environments supporting spacecraft integration, test, and propulsion activities, as well as launch operations.
  • Drives team to develop common practices to meet program cost, schedule, quality, and technical objectives.
  • Develops strategy to reinforce launch operations lessons learned and best practices for implementation on future programs.
  • Responsible for making sure team is compliant with ITAR and EAR exports regulations.
