Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework, and its application to Westpac’s dealings with its customers.
  • Provide high quality advice consistent with House Views and oversight on matters in line with the LAP (Matter Oversight Guide)
  • Deliver advice efficiently, reinforcing effective decision-making by the accountable executive and agile Line of Business (LOB) operating models.
  • Independently guide and document the development and negotiation of transaction or product documentation.Understand and
  • applicable risk frameworks, policies, procedures, appetite, regulation, mandatory training requirements and other professional obligations.
  • Support management of the Legal Risk Profile in line with the Group Risk Appetite and consistent with role requirements and the Legal Capability Framework.
  • Support the management of legal risks in Group projects and end-to-end risk in Legal projects.
  • Communicate concisely and with impact to business partners, tailoring for stakeholder requirements, seniority and forum.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the Group’s strategic priorities and contribute to / initiate new ideas and opportunities to fix, simplify and perform
  • Maintain high standards of performance in operational disciplines, governance and reporting, utilising the key functional drivers of Legal operational excellence (Finance, People, Data, Technology, Knowledge Management and Process Transformation).
  • Manage information in systems to ensure timely and accurate Board and senior stakeholder reporting
