Description:
THE SERVICE & TEAM:
Cornwall Council is a large and ambitious Unitary Authority, supported by an experienced and welcoming Legal Service that has a crucial role in providing specialist legal advice to all sectors of the Council, as well as some external organisations.
You should expect a varied and challenging caseload spanning both civil and criminal matters. You will have the opportunity to advise on a wide range of issues and develop your own advocacy experience in matters including:
- Judicial Review
- Burials
- General civil litigation
- Contract disputes
- Debt recovery
- Boundary disputes
- Injunctions
- Mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution including drafting settlement agreements
- Inquest advice and representation
- Enforcement of civil and regulatory Trading standards
- Health and safety
- Animal welfare
- Food hygiene
- Fraud
- Consumer protection
- Education welfare (including applications for Supervision Orders)
- Trespasser evictions (including advice on gypsies and travellers, wild campers etc)
- Fire safety
- Housing, including related offences, possessions and homelessness
- Housing disrepair and dilapidations
- Landlord and tenant disputes
- Building control
- Anti-social behaviour
- Negligence and nuisance
- Order
Responsibilities:
This is an exciting opening for the right candidate to join our specialist, small but busy regulatory and litigation Team on a permanent basis.
You will have the ability to work flexibly and from home, but with office-based working as required. Your main office location will be New County Hall, Truro.
