About You
The Senior Learning Designer provides expert guidance and support in educational development, learning design, and future pedagogies. Working closely with CEID team colleagues, the position plays an integral role in the design and development of high-quality digital learning resources in the Education Portfolio. The role is highly responsive to the University’s strategic priorities, actively coordinating the design of digital resources and learning experiences that model the University’s learning and teaching principles. The Senior Learning Designer is also responsible for fostering a culture of digital innovation. The role plays a vital part in expanding the capacity, expertise, and knowledge of pedagogical approaches tailored to digital learning across the broader team. With a comprehensive understanding of technology’s role in enhancing the student experience and academic outcomes, the incumbent will identify and support solutions that align with best practice in blended educational contexts, effectively leading by example and supporting the development of others.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • Extensive experience in learning design, digital pedagogies and educational innovation including human-centred design principles
  • Extensive experience in designing and creating learning products in a variety of delivery modes
  • Advanced knowledge of digital learning principles and practices, as well as current and future trends in digital learning technologies, including Canvas and Microsoft products
  • Experience with the production of digital learning resources including graphic design, video and multimedia
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise, work to deadlines and manage several simultaneous projects.
  • Highly developed analytical and synthesis skills, and the ability to make independent judgements and solve problems within a complex environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to forge collaborative relationships across organisational boundaries and to maintain positive, productive relationships that influence improvements in learning and teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change, remain open and flexible, whilst managing competing workflows and deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • A familiarity with user experience and service design approaches.

The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University’s strategies related to RMIT’s academic programs and the RMIT student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.
