Description:

Duties/Pligte

  • Responsible for online/hybrid learning pedagogy to deliver a transformative student learning experience.
  • Providing support to academic staff with regard to the Learning Management System (Moodle) and other educational technologies.
  • Designing online/hybrid learning sessions with academic staff to ensure a high-quality learning experience aligned with module outcomes and the intended assessment strategy.
  • Outlining the processes and best practices for designing, developing, and implementing online/hybrid modules.
  • Identifying the pedagogical needs of academic staff for online/hybrid learning and design capacity development interventions in preparation for online/hybrid learning.
  • Managing the Learning Technology team, overseeing the Learning Management System and other relevant technologies.
  • Cultivating a collaborative and innovative culture which prioritises continuous learning, upskilling, and professional development.
  • Overseeing career development, performance management, and training requirements for the Learning Technology team.
  • In collaboration with the rest of the Learning Technology team, working towards continually testing new, pedagogically sound approaches to learning design for adult (local and global) learners in the higher education context.
  • Working with development teams on learning design, approval, and implementation as directed.
  • Working with the Head: Learning and Teaching and academic staff to develop online/hybrid learning offerings.
  • Undertaking additional duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, educational technology, instructional technology and design, or online learning design.
  • Three years’ relevant working experience at a higher education institution (preferably a business school) within the field of online/hybrid learning design.
  • Understanding learning theory and practice and experience in creating digital content (e.g. videos, SCORMs, podcasts, interactive digital content, etc.).
  • Experience and proficiency in the use and support of a Learning Management System and other learning technologies.
  • Experience in the use of video streaming and online collaboration systems (e.g. Zoom, Teams).
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to successfully perform multiple tasks on time in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working in a team.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

  • Postgraduate qualification(s) in education, educational technology, instructional technology and design, or online learning design, or the desire to obtain such a qualification(s).
  • Project management experience on relevant projects (i.e. educational technologies, or online learning design).
  • Evidence of continued development/training regarding technology-enriched learning.
  • Proven track record in team leadership.
  • Experience in graphic design, website design or programming skills.
