Description:

MAKE A REAL IMPACT

Bevan Brittan is a leading commercial law firm. Alongside our recognised expertise in housing, local government, and health and social care, we are specialists in the construction, energy and resource management, higher education and financial services sectors.
Supported by our valued business services professionals, our award-winning and growing legal teams provide almost 2,000 organisations with commercial, corporate, property, finance, regulatory, employment and litigation (commercial and clinical negligence) legal and advisory services.
As a responsible business, we embrace four values: Relationships, Reputation, Responsible and Results. These give us a sense of purpose. They influence the decisions we make and how we work with each other. Importantly, they motivate us to deliver meaningful outcomes for our clients and the communities that we’re part of.
Consistently recognised as one of The Times Best Law Firms and highly ranked across the legal directories, we are proud of our hard-earned reputation. Our 2023/24 financial results confirmed both revenue and profit growth for an eleventh consecutive year, ensuring our ability to continue investing in our people.
Looking to the future, we’re targeting ambitious growth and success. And we’re looking for the best people to be part of it.

You will use your experience to review, scope, design and deliver development programmes and solutions that support our people to be at their best and enable them to drive our ambitious growth and success. Reporting to our Talent Management and Organisation Development Lead, you will also be directly involved in projects that will help to shape the future of talent and learning interventions at Bevan Brittan.

Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for the design and delivery of a comprehensive, accessible and inclusive L&D offering including resources and communications.
  • Deliver in-house programmes through a range of workshops and e-learning.
  • Work with and manage the relationship with existing L&D providers and identify new ones as appropriate.
  • Pro-actively partner with senior leaders, as well as managers and the HR team in relation to L&D needs for individuals and teams across the firm.
  • Coach, educate and support senior leaders, Partners and managers on L&D activities and projects, ensuring that the best commercial solutions are realised.
  • Seek new, innovative ways to manage training delivery. Currently much of our training is delivered virtually but there is scope to explore more in-person learning.
  • Support the creation and delivery of bespoke Talent Development Programmes which will nurture and prepare our talent optimally for the future.
  • Develop, line manage and recruit other L&D team members.
  • Work collaboratively with other HR team members to ensure that all training delivered integrates and makes suitable reference to regulatory requirements and expectations.
  • Ensure training takes account of the aims and objectives of our Responsible Business programme, particularly in relation to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Wellbeing.
  • Use and create datasets to inform decisions and demonstrate return on investment.
  • Be aware of GDPR legislation and comply with all data protection requirements.

What we are looking for from you

  • Applicants must have previous L&D experience ideally within the legal sector, a large partnership environment, or similar, translating business needs into effective development solutions. We are happy to consider those looking to work a 9 day fortnight or 4 days per week - do let us know if this is your preference.
  • Experience of designing, leading, implementing and evaluating engaging, innovative, blended learning interventions that deliver impactful change and cater to different learning styles.
  • Commercial nous and gravitas to build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels and to best represent the value of L&D to the business.
  • Knowledge and experience of using and maximising the benefits of a Learning Management System (we currently use Kallidus).
  • The ability to plan ahead, think and act strategically, whilst also being happy to execute and deliver what is needed operationally.
  • Ideally you will also have a coaching qualification with practical experience of coaching.
  • Line management experience.
  • A collaborative team player who works with others effectively.
  • Excellent organisational, time-management and project management skills.
  • Continuous improvement and an agile mind-set.
