We are inviting applications for the position of Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (2 posts). The successful candidate will have a strong understanding and broad experience of teaching core mechanical and automotive engineering topics in mechanical science and will be passionate about applying this knowledge in to address critical issues in sustainable engineering.
In particular we are looking for expertise in either chassis and structure and dynamics (Adams) or renewable energy and/or electrified powertrains and associated components e.g. battery technologies, inverters, electric motors.
We require someone who is flexible, reliable, and able to work well in teams with proven post-graduate level mathematical and analysis skills.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive industrial experience and a demonstrated history of implementing the CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate) approach in educational settings. The successful applicant will be responsible for designing and delivering CDIO-based curricula, strengthening industry-university partnerships, and inspiring the next generation of engineering leaders. Candidates with adequate industrial/CDIO experience and a passion for transforming engineering education are encouraged to apply and contribute to our thriving academic environment. The candidate is expected to support and improve the students learning experience, which involves managing taught programmes, overseeing daily operations like timetabling, assessments, and examinations, and ensuring compliance with University quality standards and regulations. It includes contributing to the development of academic processes and teaching strategies, delivering a range of materials, and applying innovative teaching techniques to engage students. Additionally, it encompasses monitoring student progress and offering advice and guidance to personal tutors and students.
