Position Summary
We are looking to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel with a proven record of client service with a practical, problem-solving approach to support our Data & Analytics business across the Americas region with a focus on Latin America.
The candidate needs to be a hands-on, commercial contract lawyer and service all aspects of our Data & Analytics businesses.
Fluency in English, and Spanish is essential.

Role Responsibilities

  • Providing a wide range of legal advice and support to the sales and operations team in Latin America.
  • Reviewing, drafting, revising and negotiating agreements with strategic customers, vendors, partners and other third parties, including data licenses, software licenses, master agreements, terms and conditions and other sophisticated commercial agreements.
  • Researching and responding to general legal inquiries from in-house customers across the Americas region with a focus on Latin America that may relate to litigation, regulatory issues, intellectual property, privacy matters, fraud issues, and consumer complaints.
  • Support the Privacy Team on developments in privacy laws in Latin America and implementation of compliance programs.
  • Supporting Co-Sec and the Corporate and IT Teams on general corporate and intellectual property matters.
  • Supporting contract template agreements updates and translations.
  • Supporting Compliance with initiatives including tracking, advising and implementing processes to ensure continued compliance of the company with the growing and changing regulatory environment.
  • Supporting the Litigation Team with the strategy and review progress of outstanding litigation. Collaborating closely with and handling external counsel and associated expenses.
  • Helping to identify, assess and brief Head of Legal Americas on potential and actual risks and legal exposures and take appropriate proactive and remedial measures.
  • Supporting the Employment Team on employment matters working closely with the People Function in the region.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • 5 years demonstrated ability in a legal position handling a broad range of commercial law contracts and product development.
  • Exposure to information, technology financial and/or telecommunications environments is advantageous.
  • Experience advising on developments in privacy laws and general compliance matters is advantageous.
  • Excellent written, and oral communications skills
  • Strong contract bargaining and drafting abilities.
  • Outstanding dedication to internal and external customer service.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong skills to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Sound time management skills, with sharp attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently handle projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and capability to build strong, trusted and effective working relationships with key internal and external partners across different functions and cultures, positively influencing the behavior of multiple stakeholders, and successfully balancing customer interests while maintaining a good legal and fiscal position for the company; judgment, tact and discretion when dealing with people and issues.

Must be fluent in English, and Spanish . Portuguese would be welcome too!

Education/Certifications

  • Must be qualified to practice law in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia or Brazil, and have a law degree from an accredited law school.
