Salary: National – circa £85,000 / London – circa £110,000

A bit about the job
This role has been created to support the growth of the UKGI business and we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Counsel to join the UKGI and Health Distribution team which sits within Aviva UKGI, Ireland and Health Legal. This is a high-profile position in a busy and strategically important team which delivers first class legal advice on a range of complex matters and manages diverse client relationships across Aviva UKGI. This role is both transactional and advisory in nature and you will have the opportunity to support the business on a wide variety of matters including our extensive distribution arrangements with brokers and partners, inorganic transactions and advising on regulatory matters and projects across the UKGI business.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • A qualified solicitor who has knowledge and experience of general insurance distribution contracts, including TOBAs, schemes and partnership agreements
  • A strong background in general insurance regulation enabling the identification and mitigation of risks and effective working with our compliance team
  • Strong commercial and strategic mindset with the ability to see the bigger picture
  • Able to move at pace and to manage projects, negotiations and competing stakeholder interests
  • Collaborative outlook, with the ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders, legal colleagues and external advisers alike

  • Starting salary circa £85,000 (National) / circa £110,000 (London) (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
  • Bonus opportunity - 12% of annual salary; Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s
