Imagine what you could do here. At Apple, new ideas have a way of becoming great products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your job and there’s no telling what you could accomplish. Do you love taking on big challenges without precedent? Do you possess a deep knowledge of the legal field and a passion for innovation? As a part of our Legal group, you’ll help uphold Apple’s high ethical and corporate standards, as well as defend our intellectual property. You will help provide legal support for all our products and businesses across the globe. Working for a company that invents entire categories and industries means you’ll be able to creatively apply your deep legal expertise to unique challenges that often involve unsettled aspects of the law. Apple’s IP Transactions team is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with outstanding initiative, judgment, and written and verbal communication skills. In this role, you will focus primarily on worldwide, standard-essential patent (“SEP”) licensing, a dynamic area of law of critical importance to Apple’s business. DESCRIPTION

As a member of Apple’s in-house IP Transactions team, you will be working on complex SEP licensing matters. The ideal candidate will build on a strong foundation of SEP litigation and/or SEP licensing experience to become an expert in worldwide SEP licensing law and practice, and apply that expertise in high-stakes negotiations. You will need to thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires digging into patented technologies and related economics, collaborating across teams, planning, communicating, and executing complex negotiation strategies, and negotiating and drafting the terms of licensing and other IP-related agreements. You will help formulate and drive strategy and provide counsel to clients at all levels of management.

  • 8+ years’ experience (at a major law firm and/or in-house) in patent litigation and/or IP licensing transactions.
  • Substantial experience resolving SEP disputes and negotiating SEP licenses.
  • JD or equivalent and admission to at least one US state bar.

  • Degree in engineering or computer science preferred.
