Description:
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW TEAM MEMBER! JOIN US! LSEG is looking to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel to join Markets Legal Team. The successful candidate should have a proven record of client service and a practical, problem-solving approach to support the business globally. They will be a hands-on and proactive general commercial lawyer to provide specialist and strategic legal advice to the Group’s Markets Division. This role is based in Johannesburg and reports to a senior Markets counsel based in London.
Responsibilities:
Supporting the business with a wide range of legal advice across all jurisdictions, becoming a subject matter expert and go-to person for all sales team enquiries.
Collaborating with senior lawyers on strategic and corporate initiatives, and regulatory analysis.
Drafting and negotiating agreements with customers, vendors, partners and other third parties, including data licenses, software and intellectual property licenses, intercompany and outsourcing agreements and other commercial agreements.
Support on litigation, regulatory and trading venue disciplinary matters and complaints from market participants.
Coordinating and working with outside counsel and managed legal services, acting as a point of escalation for legal issues.
Responsible for maintaining, updating and revising contract template agreements, rule books and supporting process improvement and automation within the Legal team.
Working closely with Compliance, implementing internal controls, policies and procedures to increase efficiencies and assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, corporate policies and ethical standards.
