Description:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working in Defence as a Linux Technician.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Linux servers, virtual systems in hyper-converged infrastructure, and distributed environments.
  • Proficiency in technologies and services, including Ansible, GITLab, YUM, and RHEL 7.x-9.x.
  • Ability to apply customer requirements, standards, and frameworks in practical applications for solution designs and systems.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with experience in stakeholder engagement.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge and experience with SEA2273 Minerva systems.
  • Ability to rapidly build, automate, and deliver proof-of-concept systems within a DevSecOps framework.
  • Experience with governance frameworks related to infrastructure service and security delivery, including subsystems like the Australian Information Security Manual (ISM).
  • Experience applying cyber-security controls and practices aligned with zero-trust architecture principles.
  • Familiarity with ADF deployed environments/platforms and their unique networking, support, and security constraints.

Responsibilities:

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE:

  • Must have a Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance
  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Mon to Fri - office hours
    In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of developing, building, and implementing Linux operating systems while ensuring their security and resilience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, build, and implement secure Linux operating systems.
  • Mentor and guide Linux Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure Linux server setups align with organizational needs.
  • Integrate complex ICT infrastructure software and applications with Linux OS.
  • Analyze, log, track, and resolve complex issues related to Linux SOEs and integrated business applications.
  • Implement hardening measures to enhance server security and resilience.
  • Develop and maintain a library of reliable, reusable automated builds to streamline system configuration and improve operational efficiency.
  • Work with system architects to design and develop proof-of-concept systems using various technologies.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and tools for their feasibility and potential benefits.
  • Create and peer-review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), build guides, and related artifacts.
