This position is responsible for proactively identifying and pursuing new sources of business, and when appropriate, referring business to specialists within the credit union; providing support and advice to other credit union employees where required; ensuring all products and services provided are in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures; ensuring the credit union’s goals and objectives are met, and that customers receive seamless, quality service that provides them with value that meets or exceeds expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate action for growth and development of business portfolio by analyzing member needs, trends, competitor’s offerings, recommending revisions to the marketing plan, cross selling all products and services, and pursuing new business by establishing and maintaining liaison with business community contacts (centers of influence).
  • Maintain network of key contacts (centers of influence), enhances the credit union’s image and reputation through effective public relations including presentation to business customers.
  • Represent the credit union in the community, and at business events (e.g. Chamber of Commerce, professional organizations, etc.).
  • Review assigned portfolio and ensure members have appropriate lending and other products and leverages the expertise of specialists to fulfill on members’ business and personal needs by referring members to appropriate Prospera Lines of Business including Business Banking, Personal Banking, Wealth Planning and Leasing divisions if opportunities are apparent.
  • Assist the Assistant Manager of Local Business and/or the Director of Local Business with completion of projects and administrative tasks as assigned and may be asked to provide relief coverage for the Assistant Manager, Local Business Banking in their absence.
  • Work closely with the Business Relationship Support team to ensure the assigned business loan portfolio is properly administered. Assigned portfolio will typically consist of large, complex deals. Reviews each borrower at least annually, coordinating financial information requirements with local Business Assistant; analyzes information received to assess risk; develops action plans to minimize credit union exposure where appropriate; and identifies solicitation opportunities for other Prospera products and services.
  • Review reports for assigned portfolio to identify potential problems (e.g. overdraft, delinquency, and maturity) and contacts customers to resolve issues; develops action plan to ensure risk is minimized.
  • Determine profitability of individual accounts utilizing the applicable Business applications/software(s).
  • Determine and recommends whether to retain, expand or de-market existing relationships based on analysis of credit risk, profit contribution and other considerations and submits recommendations to appropriate level of authority
  • Complete due diligence and investigation; analyzes and interprets financial data and other information; assesses value of security; makes recommendations for new loan, loan renewals and amendments within the guidelines of PCU lending policy and procedures.
  • Provide creative and flexible solutions in structuring credit with appropriate supporting commentary. Submit recommendations for credit to appropriate approval level.
