Description:
Utilise your trade skills in the tourism industry by taking on a crucial role in maintaining one of New Zealand’s largest vessel fleets. RealNZ is seeking a qualified professional to help lead the operational maintenance and engineering projects across our marine division, based in Te Anau, with a special focus on the iconic TSS Earnslaw.
As our Senior Maintenance Technician (Marine) and Engineering Officer of the Watch for the TSS Earnslaw, you’ll be at the heart of our operations. During the busy summer season, you’ll take charge of keeping our vessels in shape, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and performance. When our vessel activities reduce in the winter, you’ll shift gears to lead planned maintenance projects, preparing our vessels for the next season, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
Your role will also involve providing marine engineering leadership, overseeing both planned and defect maintenance, and offering advice on maintenance support and capital projects. As a senior member of the team, you will act as a mentor, providing coaching and guidance to Technicians and Apprentices. You will be expected to support various operational areas as needed, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
Let’s not forget the unique opportunity to step into duties as Engineering Officer of the Watch on the TSS Earnslaw, where you will act as a senior leader on board, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel and leadership of the crew. Immersing yourself in this role will open up training and development opportunities, including MEC certification, steam endorsements and full Engineering Officer of the Watch qualifications.
