Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

BMCHS is a multihospital system with a range of data source systems and reporting capabilities. The Senior Manager, Business Intelligence will recommend financial reporting strategies for all three hospitals under BMC Health System (BMCHS) as well as the new BMC Affiliated Physicians (BMCAP) group. This includes driving analytics and reporting capabilities to support organizational decision-making.
This role will take direction from the Director, Finance Reporting and Analytics and provide innovative recommendations for the use of financial data, leveraging reporting tools to support decision-making for various hospitals’ strategic goals. The position will oversee the design and optimization of reporting, ensuring that accurate, timely, and actionable financial data is accessible to stakeholders across the organization. This position will also lead and manage two Business Intelligence Developers and provide insight on hospital system organizational data and report governance.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree or graduate certificate (focused on Healthcare Information Management, Data Science) preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • 7 - 10 years of healthcare information management, data management, business intelligence development required
  • 3+ years of people management experience required
  • Experience working in a remote or corporate environment preferred

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Strategic Oversight: Oversee the execution of scaling best practice financial data management and collection strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance data management, analytics, and reporting capabilities across all hospitals.
  • Reporting Leadership: Help spearhead the team that directly develops and maintains advanced financial reporting tools, enabling data-driven decision-making and facilitating timely ad-hoc analyses to support organizational objectives.
  • IT Integration: Partner with Information Technology Services (ITS), Financial Information Systems (FIS), Finance and Operations to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of financial data systems for BMCHS (SEMC, GSMC, BMCAP) in both short-term and future migration to Epic in the long term.
  • This includes maintaining Steward Healthcare Qlik reports and assisting in the transition or relaunch of reports on AOM (Application Operations Management) platform.
  • BI Transformation: Help create short-term strategy (from Meditech) to long-term strategy of converting to a future Epic source system where reports are on a singular BI platform through collaboration with other departmental leaders across Finance, IT, and Operations.
  • Help foster a Business Intelligence culture throughout this report deployment strategy and roadmap.
  • Team Development: Attract, mentor and guide a high-performing team of developers, fostering a culture of excellence in data management, analysis, and reporting practices.
  • Data Governance: Make recommendations and support the setup of organizational data governance and design and maintenance of Finance data mart.
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize dashboards, reports, and underlying data sources to ensure efficient load times and interactivity.
  • Help set and meet BMC organizational business intelligence reporting criteria.
  • Reporting Integrity: Oversee timely and accurate data updates for critical applications and reports, ranging from volume to labor productivity.
  • Training Development: Partner with the department training specialist on creating a program to train Operations stakeholders on how to use Business Intelligence reports.
  • Consultative Support: Ensure direct reports provide consultative and technical support to management, the financial planning team and facility-based productivity specialists in financial and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Continuous Innovation: Remain at the forefront of industry trends in data analytics and reporting, integrating emerging tools and technologies to enhance organizational capabilities.
