Responsibilities:

ROLE PURPOSE:

  • Assist the Head of the Consumer protection and conduct risk management (CP/CRM) department in fulfilling the overall responsibility for the implementation and effectiveness of the business and market conduct risk management controls across the Bank
  • Assist in the implementation of the Bank’s consumer protection and conduct risk management strategy and the effective working of the CP/CRM department
  • Act as the subject matter expert and key point of contact for conduct risk related matters
  • Key Accountabilities of the role Competencies
  • Represent ADIB on conduct risk management issues before internal stakeholders, the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) and relevant regulatory authorities
  • Responsible for setting up and deploying the conduct risk management framework within the bank
  • Act as the central point of contact and subject matter expert for business and market conduct
  • Identify opportunities for the continuous and sustainable improvement of the conduct risk management framework across the bank
  • Identify areas of improvement within current process, and oversee that these improvements are fully realized, completed, and documented
  • Setup a committee for the management and oversight of conduct risk management and define the committee charter, terms of reference, meeting frequency and membersManage the end to end process for organizing the committee meetings including the review and circulation of the agenda, related documents, supervise the
  • up of actions and finalization/ circulation of minutes
  • Regularly review the conduct risk framework and recommend appropriate revisions and modifications to the Senior Management of potential risk areas
  • Ensuring that the conduct risk management program effectively prevents and/or detects violation of law, regulations, internal policies, or the code of conduct
  • Revising consumer protection and conduct risk management related policies, procedures and reports periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues for existing and new products, services or initiatives
  • Assist the head of the department in preparing the Consumer Protection and Conduct Risk Management internal and external reports and dashboards (milestones, initiatives, critical risk, CBUAE enquiries, policy updates etc.) that will be shared with Senior Management and Board
  • Champion the implementation of the CPR (and act as the SME) to provide a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge
  • Provide consumer protection technical assistance in the form of legal interpretations and guidance to assist ADIB in developing policies, improving customer service, and improving compliance with laws, rules, policies, and tariffs
  • Track and follow-up with all the stakeholders (across ADIB) on gap-assessment and solution for compliance to the CPR standards
  • Understand how conduct applies to the business in relation to the ADIB Conduct Risk Framework and ensure the same is addressed in the standards they set
  • Ensure to maintain appropriate risk appetite and/or metrics related to Business and Market Conduct
  • Ensure the design of the related systems and controls is adequate and effective in mitigating possible triggers to ‘conduct risks’
  • Review the outcomes of the RCSA’s related to conduct risk to Group Operational Risk Management (GORM) and escalate to Regulatory Affairs Unit in the event of breach along with mitigating controls
  • Ensure training is provided to all ADIB group employees on ‘conduct risk’ on an annual basis with periodic trainings provided to the risk faced by relevant business unit/entity of ADIB Group and tailored to its activities
  • Escalate breaches in the Conduct Risk Appetite reported by a department and come up with mitigating controls to address such breaches
  • Oversee the implementation and effectiveness of the Conduct Risk Controls across all the departments by monitoring the RCSA results, reviewing the policies/procedures & conducting interviews
  • Work with legal teams to understand applicable CPR regulations and regulatory risks associated with launching or changing products

SPECIALIST SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE:

  • Fluency in English (Arabic is a plus)
  • Strong ability to understand key concepts of Market and Business Conduct
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with impact, build healthy professional connections, influence outcomes, simplify complex topics into actionable recommendations for decision-making
  • Ability to adopt a problem-solving approach and autonomous work on the dedicated task
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to perform innovative thinking to solve complex problems with no established precedence while balancing risk, speed, and accuracy
  • Understanding of international best practices with respect to Conduct Risk
