QUALIFICATIONS

  • Location: Located in Toronto, Canada. Comfortable with 80-100% remote work.
  • Language: Fluency in English. Fluency in French/Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience: 4-7 years of progressive professional experience focused on either:
  • Outbound-focused software/technology high-volume business development / sales
  • Investment banking, M&A advisory or PE/VC business development with coverage experience in IT/Software/Internet.
  • Commercial account management or B2B sales at a Financial Institution (top bank, wealth/asset managers) or professional service firms (consulting firms, law firms, etc.).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree at a nationally reputable university/institution. Preferably Business Administration, Finance, Economics or Engineering.

Responsibilities:

The individual will gain domain knowledge on the enterprise & SMB software industry; and master the business development side of M&A. At its core, the responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing & Relationships: Utilize online and offline channels to identify acquisition targets that align with internal criteria; proactively contact and progress in-person / digital relationships with founder-owners, management and intermediaries (i.e. banks and advisors) via cold calls, online and email channels
  • CRM & Administration: Maintain and manage M&A database by adding new targets, taking call notes and logging activities; Salesforce CRM proficiency is a must.
  • Research, Data & Financial Analysis: Drive product, market, company and financial research of new and existing leads in partnership with Aquila M&A team to screen and assess relevant software acquisition targets in private and public markets. Mastery in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Articulate: Engage in highly strategic, commercial discussions with industry executives as the representative of Aquila. Elegant and persuasive speaker and writer + quantitative reasoning.
  • Horsepower: Intrinsically motivated, highly analytical and data-driven thinker.
  • Autonomy: Outcome-obsessed and Activity-driven. Masterful at self-organization. Thrives in high-pressure, fast-paced, ambiguous environment. Proactively utilizes own judgment to move deals forward. Enjoys working independently and as a part of a team.
