Retail Credit is part of Meridian’s Risk Management function. The department is accountable for managing the overall credit risk within the Retail portfolio from all origination channels, providing prompt service on adjudication through recovery to all channel owners, and supporting key internal and external stakeholders on activities directly relating to the consumer credit environment.
Reporting to the Director, Consumer Credit Risk Management, the Senior Manager, Credit Policy & Compliance, you will be responsible to partner with the Retail Credit Leadership team to ensure all policies and programs are aligned with Meridian and motusbank’s risk appetite and regulatory obligations. They will proactively identify opportunities for policy enhancements, analyze regulatory changes and provide analysis to leadership on the potential impact of these changes. They are responsible to investigate and support new credit offers and strategies, and develop thorough and up to date market risk assessments that may impact credit granting. The incumbent will look for different ways to do business or improve on existing processes, and provide key partners with value-add services and support. With a growth mindset and a focus on innovation in the lending space, they support the delivery of a differentiated Member experience. As well as coordinating and liaising all internal and external stakeholders/partners relationships and interactions. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring all regulatory reporting requirements are addressed in policy and application.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Detailed and in depth knowledge and understanding of the Canadian lending space, with required OSFI and/or FSRA experience.
  • Financial acumen required for management of large scale portfolios
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to present logical well drafted recommendations for presentation to all levels, leveraging data and analytics, both in written form and public speaking.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience working on cross functional teams or projects. Technical acumen to support loan system management, testing and enhancements
  • Strong analytical and methodological skills and the ability to provide guidance related to changes in credit and regulatory space
  • Deep understanding of market trends and ability to determine how to best to solution with credit and growth strategies
  • Able to influence and persuade without authority
  • Demonstrate innovative and creative approaches to solving difficult challenges and seizing opportunities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and negotiate as required
  • Work well in a collaborative team environment.
  • Must be adaptable, detail oriented and organized.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of industry/professional experience in a credit adjudication, analysis and policy development;

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or College diploma, preferably with a focus on business, economics commerce, or related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong MS Office suite skills
    Office Location: 3330 Bloor Street West, Toronto OR 75 Corporate Park Drive, St. Catharines.
