About the role
As ATB’s next Senior Manager, EFS Physical Distribution, you are a key contributor within the Program Delivery pillar of Everyday Financial Services (EFS) with a primary focus on EFS’ Physical Distribution Network. EFS is the forefront of ATB’s brand through our more than 280 branches, agencies, client care & entrepreneur centers distributed throughout Alberta. This role will be critical in ensuring that the delivery of the physical distribution strategy remains aligned with the evolving needs of the workforce enabling optimal service and experience to our clients.
As Senior Manager, EFS Physical Distribution, you will be responsible for leading the branch network optimization process, identifying opportunities and implementing formats and standards to enhance customer satisfaction and drive business performance. You will oversee all aspects of new branch openings, branch relocations, and branch closures, ensuring seamless execution and minimal disruption to operations through cross functional partnership with People, Places and Spaces (PP&S) as well as Client Experience & Technology (CXT).
This is a hybrid position. You will need to be able to be in the office in Calgary or Edmonton when needed.
Accountabilities
This role requires a wide range of skill sets to deliver on the following accountabilities:

Physical Distribution Strategy:

  • Execute on ATB’s Physical Distribution Strategy, including development of multi-year roadmap and prioritization schedule
  • Develop and maintain branch formats that cater to EFS’s market archetypes and client needs
  • Partner with the People Places & Spaces team to standardize functional branch layouts to align with format standards, physical security requirements and potential market growth

Branch Openings, Relocations, and Closures:

  • Oversee all aspects of new branch openings, including working with key partners in site prioritization and implementation of defined format, defining staffing models, and development of marketing and business development activities to ensure objectives are met within the defined time frame
  • Partner with PP&S in the relocation of existing branches, minimizing downtime and ensuring a smooth transition for customers and employees
  • Manage branch closures with cross-functional teams, adhering to regulatory requirements and communicating effectively with impacted stakeholders
  • Develop and implement comprehensive cross-functional project plans for openings, relocations, and closures, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion

Business As Usual Planning & Coordination:

  • In partnership with PP&S:
  • Support PP&S in the development and implementation of a comprehensive lifecycle planning program for the branch network
  • Ensure all standards for our branches that support the client experience: functionality, safety and compliance from the EFS perspective are current
  • Implement sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of the branch network

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Development and coordination of the physical distibution’s annual life cycle planning activities in collaboration with PP&S
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, communications, risk, and EFS’ market leadership teams to support branch network optimization initiatives
  • Monitor and report on branch performance metrics, making data-driven recommendations for optimization
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices related to branch design, technology, customer experience, and facilities management

Skills, experience & requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Facilities Management, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in branch network planning, real estate, retail banking, or facilities management, with significant experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in consulting would be considered an asset
  • Proven track record in successfully opening, relocating, and closing branches or other retail locations
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret market data and trends
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and experience managing teams
  • In-depth knowledge of facilities management best practices, regulations, and safety standards
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets
