The Market Risk and Product Control Technology team is looking for a Senior Manager, Engineering to contribute to and extend the platforms.
The role is a managerial role primarily responsible for the Product Control technology stack and applications, and will be managing a local team of engineers, developers, and business systems analysts.
The role is both managerial and technical in nature and would require the candidate to have experience and ability to manage teams and complex applications. The ideal candidate would be a self-starting, motivated and high-performing individual who looks forward to being a strong contributor and thought leader in a dynamic technology organization at a major bank.
This candidate should also be able to inspire, motivate, and maximize a team of highly talented technologists, delivering solutions to the Product Control and Finance stakeholders in TD Securities.

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong academic background (e.g., computer science, engineering

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of core Java, and Spring boot
  • Deep understanding and experience with Cloud migrations and transformations
  • Working experience with various DB solutions such as Cassandra, IDLS, HBASE, and SQL Server
  • Experience working with Spark, Hadoop and REST services
  • Experience working with scalable and low latency systems
  • Strong understanding of risk and financial products is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with Scala is a plus
  • Experience working on big data sets with bi-temporal support
  • Working knowledge on middleware (Kafka, Solace, IBM MQ, Apache Active MQ)
  • Outstanding ability to establish and maintain tech and business relationships
  • 10+ years of experience as a software engineer working on large scale development projects
  • 3 to 4 years of team management experience
  • Seasoned capabilities to lead, inspire, and motivate a diverse team
  • Understanding of trading and non-trading Profit and Loss (PnL) and PnL attribution is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Product Control is an asset

Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager Engineering is a Senior position with overarching responsibilities to ensure that applications within Risk Platform align with regulatory and audit requirements. Additionally, the successful candidate will manage and execute group-wide strategic deliveries for cloud, scalability, technology simplification and currency.
Within this challenging role, the successful candidate will get exposure and learn about our varied Risk Platform technology landscape, and work directly with partners at the Director level to shape the long term strategy of our suite of applications.
Working closely with our business partners across trading, finance and risk management the successful candidate will own the following responsibilities:
On the technical side, the candidate is also expected to lead and advise the team on best code practices and spearhead cloud migration and application redesign initiatives. The role is senior in nature and is expected to collaborate closely with colleagues and executives in and outside the group, in order to strategize and move forward the platform and dealer as a whole.
