Description:
Mō te tūranga | About the Role
To manage and operate the Westpac New Zealand Data Governance function. Be a champion for data governance across the business and help solve business challenges with effective data governance.
- Establish and maintain Data Governance roadmap and focus areas in conjunction with peers and stakeholders.
- Develop, operationalise and embed the Data Risk Management Policy, Data Privacy, Master and Reference Data, and Critical Data Elements, in line with WNZL and Group requirements.
- Develop Data Governance related standards, procedures, guidelines and controls to support compliance with Data Risk Management Policy.
- Work to embed good Data Governance and Data Risk management within business operations by ensuring Policies and Practices and control measures are adhered to.
- Manage the Data Governance Council and Data Risk Steering Committee.
- Contribute to the building of data management and data quality maturity within WNZL.
- Leadership of the Data Governance Team, creating a culture of empowerment, continuous improvement and learning.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a data management, technology, science, or related discipline.
- Five plus years’ experience in a data management or data analysis role, including at least two years’ experience in data governance.
- Demonstrated experience in building and leading high performing teams.
- Demonstrated ability in the development and maintenance of a highly controlled data environment.
- Experience in developing risk, compliance, or control architecture to simplify governance activities.
- Experience in developing compliance frameworks and ensure the organisation can comply with New Zealand and Australian regulation.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels across the organisation.
- Able to plan, prioritise, execute, and manage tasks independently
- Some Database design and Data Warehouse knowledge and experience would be beneficial.
- Strong understanding of banks, products and processes and the regulatory environment they operate in.
- Understanding of different analytical tools – Informatica, SQL, Oracle, Power BI, etc.
