Description:

Purpose:
Execute adidas’ environmental assurance and occupational health & safety (OHS) management programs for all tiers of our global supply chain, from raw materials to the manufactured product across the company’s three sourcing regions: EMEA, Americas and Asia Pacific and in concert with all relevant business entities, be these direct or indirect relationships, including licensees and agents.
Considering the main environmental, health & safety coverage and risk level, position can be based in Indonesia or Vietnam.
Key Responsibilities:
 Implement action plans for the delivery of effective environmental assurance and supplier facing EHS systems and practices across all tiers of our global supply chain, from raw materials to the manufactured product, with due consideration to the environmental and chemical management programs delivered by our inhouse Sustainability Sourcing team.
 Execute the environmental and occupational safety risk mitigation and reporting strategies in relation to global supply chains, engaging closely with relevant environmental, sustainability and business experts in adidas’ headquarters, within GOPS, and regionally with Global Sourcing.
 Engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to integrate and align SEA program requirements, including environmental assurance and OHS management strategies, into the larger due diligence practices of the company.
 Build and maintain industry partnerships and represent adidas in brand collaborations with respect to environmental assurance and OHS programs and, where required, engage with high level government advisory committees.
Operational Planning & Management
 Develop the relevant tools for the measurement of environmental due diligence and safety performance and maintain their relevancy to the SEA program.
 Maintain the technical oversight and integrity of the adidas’ environmental due diligence and OHS programs, which are managed locally in each region.
 Keep updated on all EHS legislation within the designated countries and report any update to the team.
 Oversee the implementation of environmental auditing and other due diligence processes for adidas’ supply chain to ensure compliance with adidas’ guidelines and national regulations, including the appointment and management of specialist environmental consultancies and external monitoring firms.
 Conduct independent assessments and work with GOPS’ Sustainability Strategy team and Global Sourcing’s Sustainability Sourcing team, on remedial programs to manage environmental risk and improvement programs with respect to water, waste and wastewater emissions, chemicals, and greenhouse gas emissions.
 To work synergistically with SEA field and operational teams to deliver the environmental assurance and OHS programs in EMEA, Americas and Asia Pacific.
 Deliver trainings for internal teams and suppliers aimed at achieving the environmental due diligence and supply chain environmental and occupational safety topics.

Key Relationships:

  • SEA Field Operations and SEA Program Operations teams in Asia Pacific, EMEA and the Americas
  • Global Operations (GOPS, HQ), GOPS Sustainability Strategy team and Global Sourcing heads
  • Global Sourcing’s Sustainability Sourcing and Manufacturing Excellence teams
  • Other major departments, such as Legal and Corporate Communications
  • Industry practitioners such as other brand representatives as well as third parties
  • External stakeholders such as NGOs, Government bodies and International Institutions dealing with environmental due diligence, and occupational health and safety

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of current international environmental, health & safety issues and the regulatory and policy positions of governments in key sourcing countries, globally
  • Strong communication skills, good written and verbal English, plus another Asian language preferred
  • Proven ability to collaborate with all levels, partnering, facilitating, and influencing and utilizing internal and external resources
  • Experience in conducting environmental impact assessment, environmental auditing and occupational health & safety assessments.
  • Project management knowledge and experience, including developing and maintaining project plans, providing regular communication, coordination, problem resolution and undertaking strong budget administration.
  • Knowledge of excel and data management systems
  • Well versed with manufacturing operations, materials management, as well as supply chain issues related environmental sustainability and occupational health and safety
  • Experience in working collaboratively with others in industry associations and in multi-stakeholder initiatives

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or Environmental Science
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Environment Management and / or Health & Safety is a plus
  • A minimum of 8 years of solid work experience on environmental assurance and impact assessments, and occupational safety.
  • Preference for candidate with strong experience on footwear , apparel and textile manufacturing operation.
