Job Title: Senior Manager, Finance

The Senior Manager, Finance will be a member of the senior leadership team for an Emera Inc subsidiary overseeing all finance matters and supporting operations in the US and Canada. The Senior Manager will manage a team of approximately 5 with oversight for finance, cash flow management, billing, accounts payable, payroll and office management.
This is a unique opportunity within the Emera group of companies that will provide an opportunity to oversee all finance activities and partner closely with operations. The successful candidate will oversee all financial aspects of the business and assist operations in meeting their objectives and shaping the financial strategies of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and monitor financial systems to ensure finances are maintained in an accurate and timely fashion and appropriate internal controls are in place.
  • Act as the finance business partner for the company ensuring the business objectives are met.
  • Create and continuously improve various financial analyses with regards to financial performance indicators and drivers for all functions.
  • Support decision-making processes by delivering accurate, reliable, and timely data, including recommendations for action,
  • Responsible to coordinate and complete all financial requirements including monthly financial reporting, variance analysis, payroll oversight, and other reports as necessary.
  • Forecast, plan and manage day-to-day cashflows for efficient operations of the business.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual budget, quarterly forecasts, cash flow projections, and monitor performance to budget and forecast.
  • Work with collections to conduct analysis and write offs as necessary.
  • Work with Emera Tax on all tax matters associated with the company.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll to ensure complete and accurate records of all finances including revenue allocation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate customer billings and address billing inquiries as required including working with operations to address customer issues including customer buyouts and payments plans as required.
  • Oversight for financial policies and ensures compliance with all relevant legislation and regulation related to its finances in both the US and Canada.
  • Liaise with the Emera Group finance team to ensure corporate reporting obligations are met.

This opportunity would be well suited to those that have acted in a Controller or Assistant Controller role within small to mid-sized companies as well as those in larger organizations with a broad exposure to both financial reporting and operations.

Relevant Qualifications would include the following, but we understand that experience comes in many forms, if your experience is close to what we’ve listed above, please consider applying:

  • A post-secondary education with a CPA accounting designation.
  • Minimum of 7 years of financial experience.
  • Knowledge of finance/accounting operating processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software technology would be an asset including billing and accounting systems but not a requirement.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and report on key operational metrics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make strategic decisions.
