As the Senior Manager, Fundamental Equities Research (IT Sector), the successful candidate will contribute to the value-add of AIMCo by analyzing global fundamental investment candidates in the Hardware, Software, and Internet spaces. The successful candidate will bring their knowledge and instincts with a primary research focus on innovative companies in the Information Technology sector and will demonstrate the ability to articulate investment recommendations with precision and conviction.

Responsibilities

  • Building investment research reports, developing bespoke intrinsic valuations (including sensitivity and scenario analysis where relevant), and defending one’s recommendations both verbally and in writing
  • Undertaking investment screening and modeling with the use of team resources, such as S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, FactSet, Barra, etc.
  • Working in partnership with the Fundamental Equities leadership team and other team members in portfolio idea generation and due diligence – a confident and articulate communicator
  • Monitoring industry trends and global market developments in search of mispriced securities and valuation anomalies, and communicating research outcomes proactively – exhibiting high conviction
  • Utilizing industry research expertise and various expert networks in collaboration opportunities across Public Equities investment teams and other Asset Classes
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external partners to help generate expert perspective on Technology sector value chains and emerging trends
  • Assisting the Director, Fundamental Research with quarterly analysis of global Fundamental investor peer review

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • 10+ years’ investment research experience completing financial statement review and/or preparation, focused on the Information Technology sector
  • Broad understanding of Fundamental Equities discretionary investment philosophy and approach
  • CFA and/or CBV, CAIA, CA, CMA designation
  • Advanced knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Passion for fundamental, research-driven investing with a global perspective
  • Patience – our turnover is low, and we make fewer, larger investment decisions grounded in long-term investment cases rather than quarterly earnings releases
  • Undergraduate degree required with top academic credentials
  • Exceptional knowledge of Excel; confidence navigating pivot tables and VBA
  • Advanced written and verbal communication abilities
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspiring the same in others
