What you’ll be doing
Risk Management is led by the SEVP and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and is accountable on matters relating to the independent oversight of the management of risks inherent to the activities of CIBC, its subsidiaries and affiliates. These risks include but are not limited to ensuring that effective processes are in place for the identification, management, measurement, monitoring and control of operational, reputation and legal, market, credit, strategic, investment and liquidity risk, collectively “CIBC Risk”, incurred by CIBC’s retail and wholesale businesses, infrastructure and corporate governance groups.
The Senior Manager will be reporting to the Director, Governance and Controls in the Risk Management Business Effectiveness & Controls Team. Your primary responsibility will be acting as the SOX Officer/Maintenance Officer (SOMO) and supporting/advising various Risk LOBs on governance and controls activities such as control testing, deficiency management and remediation, internal and external audit engagements, RCSA management, quarterly assertion process, reporting, and others.

How you’ll succeed
- Relationship management – A key attribute you will have will be your ability to effectively interact and build relationships internally and externally to Risk Management. You will be the point of contact for all Governance and Controls related matters for the LOBs assigned.
- Analytics and reporting – Report to the senior executives on the status of the control environment which may include control testing results, deficiency remediation status and related KRIs.
- Creative thinking – You will think differently, see opportunities where challenges and efficiency opportunities appear to exist, and propose and implement creative solutions.
- Project management – You will provide rigor and structure around the scheduling and organizing of the work that we do in this unit. You will assist the assigned LOBs to manage deficiency remediation progress and action plans as well as internal/external audits and compliance examinations.
Who you are
- You can demonstrate 3-5 years of experience in control testing in Risk Management and/or Audit. It’s an asset if you understand CIBC’s control and deficiency management framework and requirements.
- It’s an asset if you have proficiency in using data analytics and visualization tools like Excel, SAS, SQL, Power BI or Tableau.
