JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President, Government Relations, the Senior Manager, Government Affairs, will support the public policy activities of the McKesson Canada Government Affairs function in their assigned geography:

  • Ensure organizational awareness and response to government legislation and/or regulatory issues that affect our business across the country
  • Ensure that the organization’s interests are represented and protected in legislative proceedings and in the development of policies and market rules in collaboration with the Policy arm of Government Affairs
  • Leads the preparation of site visits and meetings with government officials to share information on business activities and engage on potential legislation that may affect the organization

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or post graduate studies (a degree in Pharmacy an asset)
  • 3+ years’ experience in government relations, stakeholder management, and/or external communications
  • 5+ years’ experience in a healthcare setting (hospital, retail, supply chain, logistics, and/or solution provider) with demonstrated success driving (defining, launching, advancing, and leading) complex projects
  • Proven judgement, and ability to form effective relationships and communicate with a wide range of audiences to advance complex projects/ business priorities
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven successes working in a fast-paced, quick turnaround time, multi-level, and project-based environment
  • Bilingualism (English & French) an asset

Responsibilities:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the public policy advocacy of McKesson Canada Government Affairs for assigned geography:
  • Ensure that the organization’s interests are represented and protected in legislative proceedings and in the development of policies and market rules in collaboration with the Policy arm of Government Affairs
  • In partnership with the Vice President, cultivates partnerships and collaborates with governments, trade associations, and other key influencers to advance the company’s positions
  • Establishes, cultivates, and manages internal cross-functional relationships to advance and protect the organization’s interests in collaboration with the business, and enable the values of McKesson Canada
  • Represents the company at industry events and meetings, and provides strategic insight to internal businesses to deliver and maximize value
  • Ability to effectively gain trust and support of internal and external stakeholders
  • Adaptable to change, a professional and collaborative team player in a dynamic matrix team environment
  • May be called upon to directly support policy development efforts
  • Performs various other duties as required

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cultivate, maintain, and apply knowledge of:
  • The businesses of McKesson Canada
  • The industries McKesson Canada operates in
  • Federal and provincial regulations impacting McKesson Canada
  • Manage operational activities within the Government Affairs department, such as, but not limited to triaging and responding to requests, budgeting, tracking policymaker touchpoints, etc. Performs various other duties as required Actions McKesson Canada’s I2CARE values and ILEAD behaviours
