Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the job include:
- Developing and implementing the company’s local engagement strategy in support of Verizon’s goals with a focus on addressing issues involving technology deployment and broadband.
- Representing Verizon at the local and municipal levels in Southern California, partnering with state, federal and local community leaders as needed to advance the goals of the business.
- Strengthening Verizon’s impact, brand and reputation through strategic community engagement and extensive government and advocacy experience.
- Developing strong relationships with mayors, city councilmembers, county supervisors and other local elected officials and staff for the purpose of growing Verizon’s local impact.
- Managing local legislative activities and keeping management informed of pending legislation, partnering with Verizon’s state and federal regulatory and government affairs teams as needed to ensure that any local legislation has a positive or neutral impact on the company.
- Implementing a strategic plan to partner with industry partners, community based organizations, business and trade associations and other third party supporters of the company’s goals.
- Providing team direction on communicating key messages and strategic initiatives to stakeholders; developing strategic messaging.
- Representing Verizon in a variety of forums including providing testimony at local committee meetings/hearings that address municipal or local agency legislation impacting the business.
