Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

As part of the ICS Portfolio Delivery team, the Programme Manager will lead the delivery of IT programmes made up of multiple interrelated IT projects across their entire lifecycle, from initiation through to closure. The Programme Manager will oversee a team of Project Managers, Project Support Officers, and Business Analysts, supplemented by contingency workers and internal matrixed employees to ensure the successful delivery of the programme on time, within budget, and to a high-quality standard, ensuring alignment to scope with closely managed risks/issues and with a focus on meeting the Burberry defined objectives.
The specific focus for this role is network infrastructure delivery, working to meet our strategic goals for ‘network evolution’ and supporting a number of key stakeholders, in particular the relevant functional Director within ICS, you will be responsible for delivering a major change programme which aims to reduce risk and build capability for the organisation. To achieve this, you will need to have a strong understanding of networking best practices and be able to effectively communicate these to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Additionally, you will need to be able to manage and motivate a diverse team of professionals and ensure that they are delivering on their objectives within the agreed-upon timelines. Your success in this role will be measured by the overall successful delivery of the programme for any given financial year.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading the Programme Delivery: Portfolio: You will act as the authority on the programme’s timelines, finances, deliverables, and milestones. You will continually adjust these parameters to optimise programme success and minimise execution risk and provide regular updates to the ICS Portfolio Delivery Director.
  • Resource Management: You will work with the project managers and the ICS Portfolio Demand and Resource Manager to ensure that they have the necessary resources to deliver their projects successfully.
  • Stakeholder Management: You will ensure that business and IT leaders understand the rationale and impact of the Programme. You will also engage these stakeholders to ensure their contribution to successful delivery and manage their expectations regarding changes to existing processes and end-user experiences.
  • Programme Governance & Reporting: You will facilitate the programme’s governance structures, providing regular updates on planning, progress, risk management, escalations and delivery to appointed management and attending all meetings. In collaboration with the Project Sponsor, ensure that the appropriate approvals are granted, value for money is delivered and programme / project benefits are realised.
  • Deliver commercial, financial and schedule performance for all relevant projects in accordance with project objectives, including maintaining high standards for budgeting, forecasting, commercial and contractual management. In particular through effective supply chain management.
  • Ensure the Quality Assurance and the overall integrity of the programme or project, focusing on the internal consistency of the Programme, its coherence and interfaces with other programmes and portfolios of work, and its compliance with corporate technical and specialist standards.
  • Participate in the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
  • Engage business functional or IT stakeholders to establish programme vision sponsorship, and collaboratively draft programme charters.
  • Create and maintain accurate, up-to-date programme plans, continually revising to reflect changes in the programme - and manage third party providers to ensure adherence to planning expectations.
  • Identify distinct projects within a programme, define the goals of the individual projects, and communicate how those goals support the vision of the programme.
  • Provide input into project plans project definition documents, and create programme plans which highlight the cross-project dependencies and interrelated activities, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Create a framework for cross-project collaboration within the programme, and ensure adherence to the framework.
  • Create and maintain accurate programme-wide Risk / Assumption / Issues / Dependencies (RAID) log and ensure that the relevant parties are involved in addressing each factor.
  • Guide and mentor the Project Managers, Project Support Officers and Business Analysts, to ensure they are supported, engaged, and empowered to manage their respective projects.
  • Provide leadership and decision-making support to the Project Managers, and handle project governance escalations as necessary.
  • Facilitate programme completion and transition to relevant parties for ongoing operation of the solution.
