Department Overview
The Enterprise Lean Office is responsible for the implementation of Lean across PG&E. This is accomplished through the use of training, coaching, KPI development and tracking, problem solving, and the use of standards of performance.
Position Summary
The Enterprise lean leadership at PG&E establishes the strategy and approach to ensure the continued development, improvement and ownership of the PG&E company-wide Lean Operating system methodology for use with all policy, organizational, process and technology changes across the organization. Designs and implements a conscious process at the enterprise, initiative, and individual levels to enable successful ownership and achievement of PG&E’s strategic plans. Continuously builds Lean skills through training and hands-on experience.
Enables LOB to operate with higher levels of safety, quality and affordability.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion Lean Practices Across the Organization. Serve as the primary advocate for Lean culture, ensuring that Lean principles are consistently applied throughout the organization. Collaborate across departments to identify areas of inefficiency and lead efforts to streamline processes, always driving for operational excellence.
  • Develop a Sustainable Lean project and candidate Pipeline. Ensure a steady pipeline of Lean experts by identifying and recruiting talent and guiding teams in selecting impactful, strategically aligned lean projects.
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for the lean expert program as well as other lean activity within the Enterprise Lean portfolio of initiatives ensuring an active management and engagement of the key decision makers.
  • Demonstrate a high level of business acumen and apply a thorough understanding of functional areas, strategic goals, and business benefit realization.
  • Develops, maintains and ensures progress of the functional Lean Deployment Plan and Lean Operational Metrics.
  • Understand the PG&E functional areas, people, process, and assets (tools, trucks, & technology), paying particular attention to the formal and informal decision making of the functional areas.
  • Hire, develop, and retain quality team members.
  • Align team members with the Enterprise Lean operating system and strategy.
  • Ensures alignment and regularly communicates with the director, Senior Director or VP of the function being supported.
  • Spends significant portion of time with team problem solving content, conducting observations, and providing coaching.
  • Support functional areas, leveraging other subject matter experts, executives, and thought leaders as needed to provide value.
  • Build relationships with senior executives, earning a reputation as their trusted leader.
  • Work with team members (~15-20) to set their performance objectives that are in alignment with PG&E goals and objectives
  • Create an environment within the team that inspires high performance.
  • Hold all team members accountable to performance goals and behavior standards, including documented periodic reviews of performance.
  • Conduct regular management meetings in alignment with Enterprise Lean operating system.
  • Efficiently engage and manage 3rd party partner’s contract, delivery, and financial expectations.
  • Prioritize work to meet PG&E deadlines.
  • Has advanced level of Lean knowledge to be able to leverage best practices and all available resources.
  • Quality checks process confirmations of Lean tools to ensure team is appropriately calibrated and providing meaningful feedback.
  • Makes strategic decisions based on evaluation of Lean impact across function and directs supervisors appropriatel
