As the Senior Manager – Major Projects in the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Customers Team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of Major Projects within the business by spearheading the pursuit of high-impact business deals that align with our strategic vision. This role is central to shaping and executing the sales and delivery strategy, building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, including C-Level executives of Australia’s top energy consumers. The Senior Manager will effectively communicate AGL’s story and unique value proposition, while leading cross-functional teams to bring the strategy to life and deliver outstanding results

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing and establishing the direction (including sales, project development, engineering, project delivery, regulatory, safety plans and budgets) for major energy projects, including working with peers across the business to develop integrated strategy and planning.
  • Managing and directing the successful financial performance of the construction project from FEED through to project handover, including asset management and overseeing the CAPEX and OPEX project budgets to plan, develop budget forecasts for future years, and identify cost saving opportunities and efficiencies.
  • Verifying project work breakdown structure, cost breakdown structure and budget estimates to ensure the assumptions made at development stage align with current expectations and ais sufficient to accommodate the anticipated scope and monitoring key performance indicators and intervening as appropriate to ensure they are achieved or bettered.
  • Contributing to, leading or overseeing the negotiation of the commercial and contractual relationships with customers, suppliers and contractors ensuring that they fully reflect agreed commitments and adequately managing project risk, as well as administering the contracts and service agreements to protect AGL’s position commercially and enhancing the reputation and long-term relationship with the supply chain.
  • Ensuring targets are set and managed within the team for proactive HSE activities such as field audits and HSE conversations, and corrective or improvement actions arising from incident investigations or proactive HSE activities are closed out within the agreed timeframes.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline, as well as extensive leadership experience and demonstrated skills in senior management roles, including capacity to lead, implement and deliver work programs and lead workplace change across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong business development sales leadership experience taking projects from identification to closing, and the ability to drive growth, generate revenue, and win new business in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Extensive experience in leading construction projects of similar complexities and analytical skills to assess complex issues and problems including developing practical solutions through analytical thinking and application of expertise.
  • Intellectual curiosity, and technical literacy to promote and explain complex engineering and commercial solutions, coupled with extensive experience with technologies, products and services offered in the Energy Solutions marketplace.
  • Demonstrated consumer mindset, excellent interpersonal skills with strong ability to influence broadly to create an outcome and also maintain positive relationships to drive business performance by communicating, networking, and influencing effectively.
