KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Business Management or equivalent with minimum of 8 years’ experience of supervisory / management position in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT DEPARTMENT AND PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Responsible for directing Pathology operations to facilitate effective operations and efficient delivery of services at Department of Pathology. Assist Head of Pathology to oversee the clinical operations, professional, financial, and administrative aspects of pathology services in the department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)

  • Leadership Management
  • Guide and motivate admin staff in achieving common goal through strategic planning and direction. Maximise the potential of team members.
  • Assist Head of Department with the formulation of strategies and plans to steer department towards achieving department work plan.
  • Clinical Operations Management
  • Provide operational support to clinical functions and assist/collaborate with AHP and clinicians.
  • Ensure effective operations and provide administrative support to clinical, research and education initiatives.
  • Service Management
  • Provide support to laboratory operations and ensure compliance to prevailing laboratory regulations, standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate and work closely with other departments or hospitals to achieve standards.
  • Manpower Management
  • Ensure effective manpower planning, hiring, deployment and management to achieve department strategic goals.
  • Performance Management
  • Align staff performance indicators to department strategic goals and work plans.
  • Manage and optimise staff performance through regular staff communication, feedback, development and clarifying job responsibilities and performance expectations.
  • Financial Management
  • Assist department in maintaining a healthy financial status:
  • Manage all charging and billing matters in the department.
  • Administer Capital and Operating budget planning and implementation.
  • Perform regular fee revision and ensure fees are competitive and benchmarked to industry.
  • Assist HOD in managing department funds.
  • Procurement and Contract Management
  • Lead and manage procurement and non-procurement related activities, including writing reports and approval papers.
  • Ensure procurement/contracts are initiated, completed in a timely manner within budget and in compliance to procurement/harmonisation policies.
  • Strategic and Project Management
  • Support departmental as well as strategic and long-term hospital projects e.g., master planning and workplan.
  • Plan, organize and manage projects to ensure completion within committed timelines and budget.

Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)

  • Perform admin duties when necessary.
  • To help admin team in their duties when necessary.
  • Support Group Pathology’s centralization, harmonization and collaboration initiatives for pathology services rendered across NUHS.
  • Represent NUH Pathology, lead and/or participate in designated work streams to achieve established targets.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by superior.
  • Receptive to new duties assigned by superior.
