Description:

Alumis Inc. is a precision medicines company with the mission to transform the lives of patients with autoimmune diseases. Even with treatment innovations of the last two decades, many patients with immunologic conditions continue to suffer – our goal is to fundamentally change the outcomes for these patients.
We are looking for a Senior Manager of R&D Accounting to join our company to support this critical function. This role will report to the Director of R&D Accounting and work with teams in Research, Development and Tech Ops. The successful candidate will oversee the financial management and review of research, development, and CMC accounting, with a particular focus on clinical trial accounting activities. This role will directly manage and review accruals, develop and maintain R&D accounting models, and ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial reporting in line with US GAAP and SOX controls.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting & finance. CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Biotech industry (publicly traded) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on research and development activities.
  • Strong knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
  • A high level of advanced proficiency with Excel, as well as experience with ERP systems (eg, NetSuite, Oracle) is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in fast fast-paced dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Phase I and Phase II Clinical trial models for quarterly financial accruals.
  • Review accrual models and estimates prepared by staff, validating assumptions and ensuring they align with clinical trial progress and financial forecasts.
  • Ensure that all accrual models are consistent with US GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical operations, non-clinical teams, and project management to monitor study budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain detailed accrual processes to ensure accurate reflection of clinical and non-clinical study-related costs in financial statements.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly accruals for both clinical and non-clinical studies, ensuring that all financial data is correctly captured and reported.
  • Support R&D CMC accounting activities, including manufacturing and related accruals.
  • Support and maintain SOX-compliant documentation for key R&D Accounting financial processes accruals.
  • Support external tax experts and consultants for research and development (eg. research and development tax credit studies).
  • Take on additional responsibilities and special projects as needed to support accounting and finance teams, ensuring business needs are met.
