SUMMARY

The Senior Manager - Supplier Development role is essential to Baxter’s Global Procurement organization. This position has responsibility for handling supplier development engineering across one or more Baxter business segments in alignment with core end-to-end supply chain functions driving continuous improvement of Baxter’s supply base quality, delivery, productivity, and service performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining alignment between suppliers, Baxter’s manufacturing plant, engineering, supply chain, and broader procurement organization. Discerning whether issues are supplier-caused, raising issues (management reporting), providing data that would support cost recovery, where appropriate.
  • Being a Project Manager for internal/external teams. Assigning clear action owners, establishing target completion dates, and holding disciplined follow-ups during team operating mechanisms. Anticipating project risks, and proactively establishing risk mitigations and contingency plans.
  • Mentoring suppliers on key tools and methods, such as: root cause analysis, 5 Whys, MSA, Gage R&R, capability analysis, FMEA, control plan, tooling capacity, OEE, statistical process control charts, DMAIC, SCAR, PPAP, PAPA, Continuous Improvement.
  • Performing supplier capability assessments and/or audits, as related to process controls, manufacturing capabilities, and lean maturity. Publishing assessment reports outlining non-conformities, opportunities for improvement, and working closely with suppliers to plan/implement appropriate and timely corrective actions.
  • Maintaining relationships with key external partners and internal collaborators, promoting collaboration, diversity, and a multi-functional approach to solving business problems and driving business results.
  • Driving supply base improvement for respective Baxter manufacturing facilities (manufacturing plants or External Contract Manufacturers (ECM)), including systematically reviewing supplier’s performance, proposing continuous improvement activities, and working with suppliers to achieve process improvements to meet quality, delivery, and cost improvement targets.
  • Identifying the processes vital to getting things done, adhering to ethics and compliance, ability to simplifying ways of working, and ability to managing multiple projects simultaneously to drive efficient and effective workflow.
  • Balancing process-centric behaviors and seeking to understand different perspectives, cultures, and diverse experiences to foster collaboration in a highly matrix and global organization.
