SENIOR MANAGER - WHOLESALE TECHNOLOGY - RISK AND CONTROL

Technology teams in the UK work closely with our global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. They also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
ESSENTIAL SKILLSET/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in developing and operationalising technology risk strategy and governance framework across value streams.
- In depth knowledge of Tech, Cyber and Data Risks and controls, ideally previous experience leading on the operation of a control/controls.
- Experience developing and leading on the execution of control testing/assurance regimes and activities.
- Knowledge of technology and technology trends, and the ability to provide technology risk advisory / consultancy to senior management including automation opportunities to help mitigate risks and to enhance control environment.
- Proven experience analysing / mapping technology control compliance at application / service level using key control indicators and risk metrics to help material risk takers and senior management make informed risk management decisions.
- Proven record developing and executing control remediation plans to address control compliance breaks stemming from internal / external audit and regulators across markets and geographies.
- Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders across Business Risk Owners, CCO, Risk Stewards, Audit, and Regulators on technology risk and control matters.
- This role will require detailed understanding of all business areas across the bank in particular Wholesale Business and relevant technology domains.
- The role will be responsible for independently leading on the operation of one or more technology controls.
- An appreciation and respect for local cultures, and ability to both influence and work effectively with them.
- Aptitude for authentically engaging a diverse group of stakeholders to deliver at pace.
- Comfortable in initiating and willing to challenge the status quo.
- Excellent understanding of HSBC structures, processes and strategic objectives across the Wholesale Business and Group.

Responsibilities:
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
As Senior Risk Manager, you will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders including Wholesale Risk & Control Leads across Value Streams, CCO Tech, Cyber, Tech Control Owners and Operators, Business, 2LOD, Audit as well as Regulators and 3rd party vendors to lead on all aspects of Risk and Control operation and remediation across various initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead on the execution of control compliance remediation activities focusing on material controls to help improve business risk posture as well as residual risk position.
. Perform read across /thematic reviews including development and implementation of remediation plans.
- Lead the implementation of Group Risk policies and frameworks including Non Financial Risk Management Framework.
- Lead on Wholesale Business technology control compliance performance to help business prioritise investment on control remediation.
- Lead on the assessment of risks and controls associated with Wholesale Technology, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology including adoption of AI/Gen AI and responding quickly to emerging risks, issues, and incidents.
- Lead on internal and external audit (Sox), be that conduit between Audit and Wholesale Tech value streams – challenge audit / clearly articulate audit asks and scope.
- Support the assessment and articulation of residual risk in regional Wholesale business based on global issues impacting the Technology control environment.
- Support Business CCO with periodic scenario analysis.
. Increase transparency and awareness of Wholesale IT risk and control environment and impact on entities non-financial risk profile.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to educate Wholesale Tech Value Streams on Group Policy & Frameworks to embed a risk aware culture.
- Key face off for global and regional Wholesale Tech with 2LOD and 3LOD, supporting reviews and audits where Wholesale IT are in scope and lead on remediation activities.
- Running and reporting the 1st line of defence Control Metrics
