POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Academic, Program Quality, Development and Integration (AVPA), the Senior Manager, Work Integrated Learning is a role that will support Associate Deans, WIL practitioners and other stakeholders to provide strategic leadership across the College to align with GBC policies, particularly GBC’s WIL policy, accessible learning, health and safety, signing authority, records retention, among others. They will also assess and measure the impact of WIL on the student experience, including monitoring College wide benchmarks. The Senior Manager will manage the placement student survey and feedback process (e.g., administer surveys, collection of data, analysis and reporting).

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Business, Public Administration, Strategy, Experiential Learning or other related discipline is required.
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ related experience with demonstrated senior level expertise in partnering and building sustainable relationships with multiple, diverse stakeholders across sectors (education, government, community, employer, etc.) locally and internationally.
  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and/or communities of practice in a collaborative, consensus-building way.

  • Clear ability to be an agent of large-scale change through articulating a clear vision, actively engaging stakeholders, effectively communicating relevant information and measuring results.
  • Solid background in aligning deliverables with overall strategy, identifying synergies across functions in complex work environments, understanding their implications and determining practical solutions to positively impact students/clients.
  • Familiarity with leading teams through changes as part of enabling new systems, models, programs and processes.
  • Able to travel between campuses.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the AVPA and the WIL Community of Practice and other stakeholders internally and externally to implement the WIL policy, processes and practices across Divisions to reach a common vision, align with quality frameworks and reduce risk to student safety.
  • Under the direction of the AVPA, works with Associate Deans to implement a College-wide quality assurance framework for WIL.
  • Identifies risks for WIL across the College and works collaboratively with Associate Deans to assess and mitigate risks at the School level.
  • Leads process re-engineering efforts, creates process documents, agreement templates and policy. For matters relating to legal, risk and insurance, identifies risks for WIL across the College and supports Associate Deans to identify, assess and mitigate risks at the School level. Works collaboratively with subject matter experts at the College (e.g. General Counsel, Risk Officer, etc.) to identify shared solutions that practitioners can use.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to monitor quality assurance measurements such as WIL completion rates, student satisfaction and the quality of experiences across participants (students, employers, community partners, etc.).
  • Maintains and supports LMS sites for schools in terms of WIL supports for inclusion of modules regarding ethics and professionalism in the workplace, among other supports as required.
  • Leveraging technology, works collaboratively to automated processes, communications and alert mechanisms to mitigate risk.
  • Drives change management and leads on compliance through building and sustaining relationships with Associate Deans and WIL practitioners throughout the College.
  • Under the direction of the AVPA, develops central supports for transitions, alignment and compliance such as templates, tools, procedures, guides, forms, etc.
  • Leads the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Working Group and collaborates with them and other stakeholders to align with College strategy (Academic Plan, Vision 2040).
  • Supports Associate Deans with domestic experiential learning partnership opportunities, while strategically growing international field education opportunities across programs with global industry partners.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
