Description:
Our time is NOW.
ERM’s Capital Project Delivery unit is growing rapidly, and our Social Sustainability and Sustainable Finance team sits at the heart of what we do, so this is one opportunity where you really can make a difference. Offer can be made at Senior or Managing Consultant level depending on experience.
Working with our long-term lender and developer clients, you will manage projects on social performance topics in a range of sectors across the globe. Your work will include the ‘S’ component of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), stakeholder engagement, management plans, resettlement projects, community health & safety plans, gap assessments, and the ‘S’ component of lenders Environmental & Social (E&S) due diligence assessments.
At this career level we expect that you will project manage a long term, chunky ESIA piece of work, whilst simultaneously managing a few smaller short term audits and due diligence projects - all of course adhering to IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles IV. Many of the teams current projects are in the Africa region, however there are also some in Europe, and the Middle East – presenting opportunity for international travel and field work! In addition, you will be required to contribute to business development through leading and contributing to proposal work.
This role can involve some line management from the get-go or not – it’s your call. You’ll be best connected with your team if you’re based in London, Oxford, Manchester or Bristol for this role, however we can consider any of
our 16 UK offices
as a base. We have embraced hybrid working, with eight days per month expected in the office.
Why join ERM?
We are committed to building a sustainable future with the world’s leading organisations, but we believe that change starts at home. That’s why we’ve operated the
ERM Foundation

We offer flexible working to suit your life – need to do the school run? Not a problem! More productive and happy if you work from home a few days per week? Go ahead! Love to travel? Ask about our Cross Border Remote Working! You’ll have 25 days annual leave + public holidays, 6% pension contribution, EV car salary sacrifice scheme (Octopus), twice annual promotion opportunities, annual salary review and performance related bonus, private medical insurance, life assurance, income protection, employee assistance programme, volunteering and Give As You Earn opportunities, travel season ticket loan, premium account for Calm (the #1 app for sleep and meditation), Cycle2Work Scheme, plus discounts on gym membership and gift cards for a wide variety of retailers and restaurants. We also offer employees a Safety First, diverse and inclusive culture in which difference is embraced, valued and celebrated. With a robust career framework in place and 20+ technical communities of global experts you can join, there are great opportunities to advance your career here at ERM.
About you
You’ll have a relevant Sustainability degree qualification along with experience project managing ESIA’s, performing gap analysis and lenders E&S due diligence assessments. You’ll have delivered social performance projects in the field internationally, and have strong working knowledge and experience in the application of lenders E&S requirements – including the IFC Performance Standards and the Equator Principles IV as a minimum. If you have resettlement experience then we definitely want to hear from you!
Your stakeholder engagement skills will be strong, report writing skills on point, you’ll be fluent in spoken and written English - fluency in additional languages would be of great benefit to the team.
We look forward to hearing from you!
