SENIOR MARINE INSTRUCTOR
Permanent
Full Time - 35 hours per week
Salary: Grade 6, £39,166 - £42,060 per annum (successful candidate will commence on £39,166)
Location: Riverside Campus
As part of our commitment to meet and respond quickly to the needs of our students and stakeholders, we are looking for two new members for our Nautical Science & STEM team.
Candidates must be passionate about supporting and motivating our students. You must be able to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team. This role is all about developing students’ practical skills in safety critical areas so experience in an instructional role is highly desirable. MCA OOW/EOOW qualification or relevant MCA approved industrial experience/seatime is a requirement.
The successful candidate will instruct and support students in a range of marine skills including: Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (CPSRB), Efficient Deck Hand, safe rope, mooring and jetty work as well as working in our Marine Simulators. In addition to assisting with the development of student’s transferable skills through the structured MNTB training programme and assessing students work-based learning portfolios. Other duties will include day to day maintenance associated with operations, ancillary equipment and maintaining safe systems of work.
You must be self-motivated and reliant and have a desire to help others learn. You should possess effective interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate understanding of topics to individuals with a variety of learning needs.
Based at the Riverside Campus this role will instruct both theory and practical work in classrooms, seamanship lab, simulators and afloat.
