Job Description
AECOM Buildings + Places is seeking a motivated and skilled Senior Mechanical BIM Specialist to join our team. This position can be based out of Burnaby with opportunities for hybrid work.
JOB SUMMARY:
You will be working with our team of Mechanical Engineers, EITs, Technologists, CAD Designers, and Project Managers who focus on delivering high quality and challenging projects within the buildings sector. You will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other disciplines such as civil engineers, electrical engineers, architects, and other mechanical engineers on larger projects.
As part of the CAD/ BIM team, you must be curious and passionate in optimizing BIM workflows and procedures in delivering building mechanical design, leading the charge in discovering new and effective ways of using the BIM process to improve efficiency and quality of deliverables.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related Engineering discipline + 6 (Six) years of experience of Mechanical BIM and CAD design.
- Experience in a wide variety of HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, load calculations, energy modeling and all other building systems.
- Experience using Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prefer 10 (ten) years of experience of Mechanical BIM and CAD design.
- Knowledge of Plumbing Code, British Columbia Building Code, National Building Code and other regulations and able to apply to projects in their respective jurisdictions
- Critical thinking to identify issues, present solutions and follow through to ensure completion
- Professional and timely communication to internal team members and external stakeholders
- Delivers on promises to project team members, consultants, and clients
Comfortable using Revit’s capabilities such as:
- MEP modelling and design tools
- Sheets and Detail views
- Worksets
- Design Options
- Phasing
- Revit Family modification and creation
- Templates and View filters creation
- Experience in using Navisworks and BIM 360 for Model and clash coordination would be an asset
- Experience Metro Vancouver Drafting standards would be an asset
- Previous experience in water/wastewater treatment, pumping station HVAC design experience would be an asset
- Able to build and maintain professional relationships internally and externally
Responsibilities:
- Working under the limited general supervision of project leaders, will perform technical work utilizing a wide variety of resources, digital tools and hardware with responsibilities including:
- Generate and development of ducting and piping layouts in Revit based from engineer’s mark-ups and sketches, using both company or client standards
- Takes on model authoring responsibilities by working closely with Mechanical Engineers to ensure that discipline BIM Models are aligned to design intent
- Prepare detailed design drawings for Building Mechanical team
- Check for conflicts of design elements against other discipline models and resolve them as part of a team in a timely manner.
- Acts as custodian for the discipline’s Revit Family repository
