Job Description
AECOM are currently seeing an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, to join our Building Services team. This role involves ensuring that all HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems are designed to meet performance, sustainability, and safety standards. You will work closely with architects, structural engineers, and project managers to deliver high-quality building designs that meet client needs and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 6+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a focus on building systems.
- Proven track record of leading the design and delivery of complex mechanical systems in commercial, industrial, or residential buildings.
- Extensive experience with HVAC design, plumbing, fire protection systems, and energy modeling.
Additional Information
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and integration of mechanical systems in buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and energy management systems.
- Develop comprehensive mechanical plans and specifications that align with architectural designs and structural constraints.
- Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system sizing to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency of building systems.
- Utilize building information modeling (BIM) tools like Revit to create detailed 3D models of mechanical systems within the building structure.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with other building components.
- Incorporate sustainable design principles into mechanical systems, aiming to achieve certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, or WELL.
- Ensure that all mechanical systems comply with local building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with mechanical systems design, such as potential failures, safety hazards, or non-compliance with regulations.
- Lead design reviews and value engineering sessions to optimize the design for cost-effectiveness and constructability.
- Continuously improve design processes and tools to increase efficiency and quality of deliverables.
