Morrison Water Services Ltd are currently looking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer working within our One MEICA Design Team across a wide portfolio of projects. The role is based in our Batley Office near Leeds reporting to the MWS Mechanical Design Lead and may involve travel to sites as required.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Design Lead , you will be you will be working as part of the Engineering Team. Responsible for managing the Mechanical Engineering aspects of clean & wastewater projects within capital delivery works Programmes, and leading design projects across discipline.
The One MEICA Design Team currently delivers a number of frameworks for Water companies including Yorkshire Water, United Utilities and Scottish Water, including the Infrastructure Capital programme and the MEICA replacement operational alliances. In addition, we deliver further specialist frameworks for Water Companies and for a portfolio of non-regulated clients. The business is currently at c. £130m p.a with further growth planned.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mechanical Degree / HND / HNC or equivalent in engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in design development for clean / wastewater non infrastructure would be desirable.
  • Chartered or Incorporated (CEng/IEng) or working towards would be desirable.
  • Previous utility industry knowledge and experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance and technical advice to support and supervise junior staff.
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines.
  • Good written and oral communication and organisational skills.
    Do you hold a driving licence? You will require one for this role.

Responsibilities:

AS THE MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER YOUR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team on projects focussing primarily on water & wastewater M&E capital maintenance and growth projects.
  • Where necessary leading the design for singular projects to ensure the client is receiving the service and deliverables they require across the disciplines.
  • Supporting Project Managers with knowledge to complete design and project engineering deliverables within the Pre-Construction phase.
  • Continual professional development including professional registration is encouraged and actively supported.
  • Attend and contribute to internal and external design review and progress meetings.
  • Participate in design co-ordination with other engineering disciplines and professionals.
  • Mechanical outputs including pump calculations and equipment specifications.
  • Produce mechanical schematic diagrams and documentation.
  • Engineering deliverables (Mechanical drawings, pump calculations and pipe routes).
  • Review of specifications and designs against industry standards and specifications.
  • Production of Engineering reports & Feasibility studies.
  • Production of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
